FESTIVAL IN ITALY JANUARY

It is usually very quiet in January as most Italians take two weeks for the christmas holidays. A lot of hotels and Bed & Breakfasts are also closed throughout January in the country areas and seaside and  reopen towards the end of February.

Most towns celebrate in a big way the following holidays. On the feast of the Epiphany, Befana, the good witch  brings children chocolates.

A fair of toys, sweets and others presents takes place in the open air among the beautiful Bernini fountains.

Regata delle Befane - 6th January - Canal Grande

The historical regatta along the Canal Grande, raced by regatta champions in fancy dress.
